What is Q’ero Shamanism?
Q’ero shamanism is an ancient Andean spiritual tradition preserved by the direct descendants of the Incas. It centers on Ayni (sacred reciprocity), teaching us to live in harmony with Mother Earth, nature spirits, and each other. Ultimately, it is a practical, heart-centered path for restoring energetic balance within ourselves and the world.

High within the sacred Andes Mountains of Peru lives an ancient lineage of wisdom keepers known as the Q’ero people — descendants of the Inca whose spiritual traditions have survived for generations through ceremony, prayer, direct experience, and sacred relationship with the living energies of the Earth.

For centuries, the teachings of the Q’ero remained protected within remote mountain communities, carried quietly by elders who understood that sacred wisdom must be approached with reverence, humility, and responsibility. Today, as humanity enters a time of immense transformation and awakening, these teachings are beginning to spread across the world with the blessing of many Indigenous elders who believe humanity is being called back into harmony.
But Q’ero Shamanism is far more than rituals or ceremonies.
It is a way of living in sacred relationship with all of life.
The Worldview of the Q’ero
The Q’ero people view the universe as alive, intelligent, and interconnected. The mountains, rivers, stars, stones, ancestors, animals, winds, and even thoughts themselves carry living energy.

In the Andean tradition, there are multiple realms of existence that coexist simultaneously:
The Lower World
The Middle World
The Upper World
These realms are not seen as separate from everyday life, but deeply interwoven with human existence.
A traditional Paqo — often referred to in the western world as a shaman or medicine person — serves as a bridge between these worlds. Through ceremony, prayer, energy work, and sacred relationship, the Paqo learns to walk between realms while remaining grounded within the human experience.
The role of the Paqo is not based in ego or personal power.
The true purpose of the Paqo is to restore harmony.
Harmony within:
The self
The family
The community
Nature
Spirit
Humanity itself
In the Andes, this sacred reciprocity and balance is known as Ayni.
Understanding Ayni: Sacred Reciprocity

Ayni is one of the foundational teachings of the Q’ero tradition.
It is the understanding that all energy exists within relationship and exchange. What we give to the world returns to us. How we treat the Earth affects humanity. How we think, pray, heal, and live influences the energetic balance around us.
Ayni is more than kindness.
It is living in right relationship with:
Pachamama (Mother Earth)
Spirit
Ancestors
Community
Ourselves
When a person falls out of harmony emotionally, spiritually, or energetically, imbalance can begin to manifest in many areas of life. Traditional Andean healing practices work to restore that harmony through prayer, sacred offerings, ceremony, energetic cleansing, and reconnection to spirit.
The Paqo: Bridge Between Worlds
The Paqo is often misunderstood in modern western spirituality.
Traditionally, a Paqo is not someone seeking status, attention, or performance. A Paqo is a student of life, spirit, and energy who dedicates themselves to service, healing, humility, and personal transformation.
The Paqo learns to communicate with:
Spirit allies
Nature energies
Sacred mountains known as Apus
Ancestors
The wisdom of the unseen worlds
Through years of training and initiation, the Paqo develops the ability to become a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms.
This bridge is not meant for escape from reality.
It is meant to bring wisdom, healing, clarity, and harmony back into this world.
The Great Awakening & the Time of Pachakuti
Many Andean elders speak of humanity entering a great time of transformation known as Pachakuti.

Pachakuti can be understood as a turning over of time — a great shift in consciousness where old systems collapse and humanity is invited to awaken into a new way of living.
Many people across the world are now feeling this shift deeply:
Emotional awakenings
Spiritual remembrance
Sensitivity to energy
Desire for healing
Connection to purpose
Feeling called toward service
Reconnection with nature and spirit
According to many wisdom traditions, humanity is moving through a profound transition where people are being called to awaken spiritually and remember their deeper connection to life.
In Andean prophecy, there is also the teaching of the Eagle and the Condor — symbolizing a future where the intellectual knowledge of the North and the heart-centered wisdom of the South come together in balance.

Many believe this is the time humanity is now entering.
Why the Teachings Are Spreading Across the World
For generations, many of these teachings remained protected within the Andes Mountains.
But over time, respected elders began sharing portions of their wisdom with sincere students from America and other countries. This sharing was not accidental. Many elders believed the world was entering a time where humanity would desperately need teachings centered around harmony, healing, and sacred relationship with the Earth.
Today, students from around the world travel to Peru to study with Indigenous wisdom keepers and participate in ceremony, pilgrimage, and initiation.
At the same time, these traditions are now also being adapted responsibly into modern life so that people living in today’s world can begin reconnecting spiritually while still living within contemporary society.
This does not replace the Indigenous roots of the tradition.
Instead, it allows modern students to respectfully learn sacred principles and integrate them into daily life, healing work, spiritual practice, and service to humanity.
Learning the Traditions in the Modern World
At The Chacana Spiritual Center, we deeply honor the Indigenous elders and Paqos who have entrusted portions of these sacred teachings to students outside Peru.

Our school has studied directly with respected Andean elders and traditional lineage holders in Peru. We continue to support and work alongside Indigenous teachers while helping respectfully preserve and share these traditions with modern students.
We believe the purpose of these teachings today is not only personal healing, but also the awakening of conscious individuals who can become bridges of harmony within their homes, communities, and the world.
As humanity moves through this great shift in consciousness, many people are feeling called to step deeper into service, healing, and spiritual remembrance.

Becoming a Bridge for Harmony
At its heart, Q’ero Shamanism teaches us that healing begins through reconnection:
Reconnection to the Earth
Reconnection to spirit
Reconnection to purpose
Reconnection to the heart
The true path of the Paqo is not about escaping life.
It is about becoming fully present within it.
As more people awaken during this time of great change, these sacred teachings continue to spread across the world — helping individuals remember who they are, restore balance within themselves, and become bridges of harmony for humanity and the Earth.
